Gene Hackman Died 9 Days Before Cops Found His Body

Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, 64-year-old pianist Betsy Arakawa, most likely passed away at their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home nine days prior to their deaths being announced as per the officials stated on Friday.

At a press conference on Friday, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza speculated that Hackman might have passed away on February 17. According to a pathologist, Hackman’s pacemaker’s last signal was recorded on February 17, he told Reuters. Mendoza stated, “It is a good assumption that was his last day of life.”

Mendoza ruled out foul play and verified that Hackman and Arakawa’s carbon monoxide poisoning tests came back negative. Furthermore, it’s uncertain who passed away first.

Police located Arakawa and the dog in a bathroom, where they found strewn pills from an open prescription bottle on the counter, and Gene in the kitchen. This has led to conjecture over how drugs may have contributed to their demise.

However, it is not yet clear about the cause of death for Hackman, his wife, Arakawa, and their dog. Authorities have requested a toxicology report on the pills found in the bathroom, as well as other medications in the house.
